This image was taken on a very cold evening in December. I wanted to work on my night imagery and play around with long exposures. Dartmouth Castle was the perfect building for this as it has such a historic presence, and wonderful atmosphere.

Wembury Point and The Great Mew Stone at sunset. Wembury Bay is a wonderful unspoilt stretch of coast and I got there just in time to catch the last few seconds of the setting sun before it sunk over the horizon and felt very lucky to have sen such a nice sunset.

Looking east-north-east along Row Cove - towards Bolt Tail headland in the far distance. It was a wonderfully sunny spring evening and I walked down hoping to catch the last rays of sun on the cliffs of this great beach - I just managed to get the picture before the sun left the cove and the tide came all the way in!

Looking from Hope Cove towards the Bolt Tail headland on the edge of Bigbury Bay. Hope Cove has in the past been a smugglers haunt - but is now more famous for its crab and lobster fishing boats. The St. Peter the Great ship of the Spanish Armada was grounded in the bay on the Shippen Rock in 1588 - some of it's beams were salvaged for use in some of the local buildings. I love the ruggedness of the coast here.

Steam trains always hold a particular fascination for old and young, but this one is special because it takes passengers along the scenic lower Dart from Kingswear, although the station was historically across the river in Dartmouth.

The Dart River is vibrant and busy providing essential ferry services, splendid pleasure craft for the visitors to travel to Dittisham and Greenways and beyond and a captivating steam railway which hugs the Dart into Kingswear. I could watch people going about their business on the River and never tire of the view.

A story of work & play against a stunning landscape. Two teenage girls, marooned by the tide at the base of steep cliffs just west of Bigbury-on-Sea, were rescued by a joint Coastguard, Navy and RNLI effort.
